Fairfield Central is 0-4 against Newberry since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. Fairfield Central will welcome Newberry at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fairfield Central has three straight wins, Newberry has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Fairfield Central and Columbia had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Fairfield Central blew past Columbia 20-4 on Friday. Considering the Griffins have won three games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Myah McMillan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McMillan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fairfield Central got a massive performance out of Layla McMillan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alexis Montgomery, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Fairfield Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted an OBP of .438.

Meanwhile, Newberry lost 16-4 to Clinton on Thursday.

Cheyanne Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.

Newberry's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fairfield Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
