Football Recap: Douglas Beats Empire for Their Third Straight Victory + How To Watch

Douglas entered their tilt with Empire on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Ravens 28-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Douglas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ivan Higuera, who rushed for 73 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Douglas' run defense was locked in: Empire could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. While four picked up at least one total tackle, Justin Hurtado stood above the rest. He rushed for 23 yards and one score, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Douglas' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

Douglas' defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ethan Gonzales, Michael Pearson, and Julio Valdivia, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Empire, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas will face off against Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Empire, they will take on Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
