Ashe County's Jonathan Cox recorded the longest rushing play in 2A/1A Mountain Valley this season in his game against Forbush last week. Cox scampered for 79 yards on the play and finished with 274 on the day as his team defeated the Falcons.
Starmount extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Alleghany, 28-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Ashe County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Conner Bowers threw for 54 and two touchdowns and Alex Laws had 39 yards receiving. Cox helped Ashe County's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
The Trojans' Grant Caudill and Brandon Eubanks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Caudill has thrown for 980 yards this season, while Eubanks, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 13 catches for 298 yards. Cox from Brian Hampton's team leads the league in rushing with 1155 yards.
Two of the top units in 2A/1A Mountain Valley will face off this week when Wilkes Central takes on Starmount. The Eagles' offense has racked up 270 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Scott Johnson's team has allowed only 33 on the year.

The Rams took down Alleghany 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
