Baseball Game Preview: Compton Tarbabes vs. Woodrow Wilson Bruins

Compton hasn't had much luck against Woodrow Wilson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tarbabes will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Compton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Compton came up short against Jordan on Wednesday, falling 11-5.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Woodrow Wilson nor Lakewood made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Bruins never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Ben Howard, who gave up just five hits to keep Lakewood off the board. Howard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Woodrow Wilson got a big performance out of Eddie Becker, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Rudy Carlos also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Woodrow Wilson pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Compton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1.

Compton might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from Woodrow Wilson in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Tarbabes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
