Baseball Recap: Roseville Comes Up Short

Roseville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They came up short against the Marine City Mariners, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-4 on Monday.

As for Marine City, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Marine City's part, Danny Vandevyver made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vandevyver has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Paul Muscat was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Letson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Roseville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
