Football Game Preview: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. Rocklin Thunder + How To Watch

The Del Oro Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Rocklin Thunder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro will be strutting in after a victory while Rocklin will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Del Oro beat Jesuit 29-16.

A big part of Del Oro's win came down to the chemistry between Nolen Sauve and his top target Brandon Alfonso. Sauve threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes while Alfonso rushed for 106 yards and one score. Sauve's passing game has become a key predictor of Del Oro's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Rocklin came up short against Granite Bay on Friday and fell 29-20. The Thunder gained 129 more yards on the day, but it was the Grizzlies that made the best use of them.

Del Oro will have to contain Reeve Slone as he made an impact in Rocklin's last game. He threw for 248 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 58 yards. 86 of Slone's passing yards were hauled in by Greyson Smith, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Rocklin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-3.

Del Oro suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to Rocklin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Golden Eagles were down 28-0.
