Baldwyn had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Kossuth Aggies with a sharp 35-14 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bearcats sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row dating back to last season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baldwyn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jourdan Crump, who rushed for 104 yards and one score on only seven carries. Crump got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 69 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Gray Earnest, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Baldwyn's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Chanceton Price was the leader with three. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Baldwyn will look to defend their home field on Friday against Booneville at 7:00 p.m. As for Kossuth, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tishomingo County at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
