Baseball Recap: Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won the last time they faced Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and things went their way on Friday too. The Royals put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 9-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Nik Wirsching and Alex Mammone made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wirsching didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Mammone tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Wirsching went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Mammone went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Mammone a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob Lancy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Wiehe, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's record is now 13-6. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Elyria Catholic on the 12th. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they have also already played their next match, a 5-3 win against Lake Catholic on the 12th.
