Basketball Recap: Rock Creek Academy Comes Up Short

Rock Creek Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the LKY Saints, falling 52-23. The Lions were down 43-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

LKY's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Simmon led the charge by going 8 of 20 en route to 21 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Simmon has scored at least a third of LKY's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah McCartney, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 12 points along with eight steals and five assists.

Rock Creek Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for LKY, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

When Rock Creek Academy and LKY next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Rock Creek Academy will try to stop Shawe Memorial's three-game winning streak when the meet at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, LKY will challenge Valley and their four-game winning streak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
