Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Takes a Loss

Martinsville lost against Franklin Central back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Artesians took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flashes.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17.

Martinsville's offense was headlined by Emma Breen and Joseymaewhitehead Josey Whitehead, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Evea Ennis and her five assists. Finally, Breen was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cicily Borders, who had seven digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Katie Bailey, who had ten digs and one assist.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Franklin Central, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Martinsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Greensburg on the 23rd. As for Franklin Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Columbus North on the 23rd.
