Softball Recap: Poway Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Del Norte, Poway was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Pasqual Golden Eagles a 5-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 back in April.

Mya McGowan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Burmeister was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Menges, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Poway pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for San Pasqual, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Poway wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Mission Hills on the 14th. As for San Pasqual, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Rancho Bernardo on the 14th.
