Soccer Game Preview: Cherokee vs. Swain County

Cherokee hasn't had much luck against Swain County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cherokee Braves are taking a road trip to square off against the Swain County Maroon Devils at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

If Swain County heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Cherokee took over last week. Cherokee came out on top against Hayesville by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Braves' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Swain County and Highlands have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. Swain County blew past Highlands 4-1. The match marked the Maroon Devils' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Mya Burrows-Kurr was the driving force of Swain County's attack as she scored all four of Swain County's goals, bringing her season total up to seven goals.

Swain County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cherokee, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Cherokee couldn't quite get it done against Swain County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can Cherokee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
