Football Recap: Austin Demling Key Part of Team Effort in Demons Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dakota Ridge, Golden was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Highlands Ranch Falcons by a score of 21-14. The win almost wasn't to be: the Demons were down 14-0 in the second quarter.

Golden's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Demling led the charge by throwing for 130 yards and three TDs. Those three passing touchdowns gave Demling a new career-high. Ethan Bonafede was in the mix as well, providing Golden with two touchdowns.

Golden didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Vincent Novello and Bonafede. Golden got some further help from Joey Filippone: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles.

Highlands Ranch's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylan Hume, who threw for 246 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Golden's record is now 7-3. As for Highlands Ranch, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Golden will take on Air Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will face off against Grand Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
