Volleyball Recap: Layton Lancers vs. Weber Warriors
Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Weber Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on April 8th.
Layton actually scored more points across those five sets (113-108), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 15-12.
Sam Pizarro Guiral paced Layton's offense, picking up 15 kills. Pizarro Guiral were helped by Aaron Peck and Ben Peterson, who contributed 18 assists each. Peterson also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Bryce Gardner, racking up three apiece.
Among those leading the charge was Dallin Hurd, who had 20 digs. Those 20 digs gave him a new career-high.
Layton's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Weber, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
Layton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Syracuse on the 29th. As for Weber, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Farmington on the 29th.
