Basketball Recap: Jensen Beach Comes Up Short

Jensen Beach lost against Cardinal Newman last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jensen Beach Falcons took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinal Newman Crusaders.

When it comes to explaining why Jensen Beach lost, don't look at Vari Newson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Newson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cordell Wilkins, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Ismael Joseph went supernova for Cardinal Newman, going 9 for 14 en route to 23 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of L.T. Noegel, who scored six points and seven boards.

Jensen Beach's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Jensen Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-60 defeat against Central on the 28th. Cardinal Newman has also already played their next contest, a 53-42 win against Park Vista on the 29th.
