The Shorewood Stormrays will head out to challenge the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Shorewood will be strutting in after a victory while Mountlake Terrace will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Shorewood was able to grind out a solid win over Meadowdale, taking the game 8-3.
Ellie Van Horn was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Van Horn was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Shorewood got a massive performance out of Maddie Schilperoort, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Schilperoort has posted since back in March. Emma Kellum was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Shorewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadowdale only posted a batting average of .286.
Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stanwood. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly five runs.
Like Shorewood, Mountlake Terrace also got a great game from a two-way player: Charlotte Snook. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Snook has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hailey Taron was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Mountlake Terrace's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Shorewood, their record now sits at 9-6.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shorewood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Mountlake Terrace struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
