Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Parkway South's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Parkway South rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars by a score of 11-8. Parkway South's victory was all the more impressive since the Jaguars were averaging only 3.15 runs allowed on the season.

Corwin Plank looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andy Hertlein was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Parkway South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Parkway South is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Fort Zumwalt West, their defeat dropped their record down to 35-11.

As of now, neither Parkway South nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
