Softball Recap: Bourgade Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against San Tan Foothills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bourgade Catholic). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Tan Foothills Sabercats a 28-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight contests in a row.

The team relied heavily on Esther Quezada, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley McManness, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bourgade Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 28 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Bourgade Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-7. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.8 runs. As for San Tan Foothills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-16.
