Basketball Recap: GV Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Wake Rolwing and Nick Madsen

GV Christian was the 48-47 winner over Awaken Christian when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The GV Christian Guardians fell just short of the Awaken Christian Lions by a score of 62-60 on Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, GV Christian had strong showings from Nick Madsen, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds, and Wake Rolwing, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Awaken Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Higgins out in front who went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Higgins a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadon Kenny, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards.

GV Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Awaken Christian, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

GV Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-35 victory against Adelson on the 12th. As for Awaken Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-42 win against Laughlin on the 10th.
