Basketball Recap: Jasper County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Jasper County had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 55-46 victory over the Jackson Red Devils on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-55 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Jackson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jd Pennamon went 7 of 15 on his way to 19 points. Pennamon has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Nehemiah Jones was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Jasper County's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

The future could be bright for both Jasper County and Jackson: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Jasper County will try to hand Southwest Atlanta Christian their sixth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Jackson will try to hand Pike County their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
