League recap: Grand Terrace climbs in state rankings with win

Grand Terrace moved up to 881 from 966 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sunkist. Grand Terrace was able to make the jump by falling to Colton 48-18.

The Yellowjackets were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Colton defeated Harold Strauss' team 48-18.

Summit's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jakob Jordan threw for 63 and one touchdown and Tarik Myles had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Justin Strong chipped in 66 yards. Jordan Washington helped Summit's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.

Aaron Miano provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the SkyHawks beat Fontana. He completed two passes for 34 yards and also ran for 63 yards.

Summit's offense has been unstoppable this season and the SkyHawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan has thrown for 711 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Erik Brown has 18 catches for 260 yards. Strong leads the league in rushing with 318 yards.

A big matchup in Sunkist this week will be when Kaiser takes on Chris Mailo's team. At the moment, the Cats are in second, while the Yellowjackets are in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Grand Terrace and Summit face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Grand Terrace comes in having scored 105 this season, while Cesar Villalobos' team has scored 284. Grand Terrace scored 18 points last week as it lost to Colton.

The SkyHawks extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Steelers, 41-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
