Recap: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Newark Memorial Cougars
The Piedmont Highlanders entered their tilt with the Newark Memorial Cougars with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Piedmont sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 29-26 victory over Newark Memorial on Friday.
Markos Lagios continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Brayden Hong did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 86 receiving yards.
Piedmont's win was their fourth straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Newark Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Piedmont will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Beau Blau and Lagios. Newark Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
