Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop McCarthy). They came out on top against the Nova Titans by a score of 14-9 on Friday. With that victory, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Nick Llinas looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Alejandro Cabral was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Chris Cassino, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Archbishop McCarthy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matchups.

Archbishop McCarthy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Nova, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.

Coming up, Archbishop McCarthy will take on Pine Crest at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nova, they will square off against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Nova 3.3, Gulf Coast 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
