Baseball Recap: New Lothrop Gets the Win

New Lothrop won the last time they faced Caro and things went their way on Saturday too. The Hornets walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

New Lothrop let Hayden Wendling and Michael Schlachter run wild. Wendling went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Schlachter went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Schlachter has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zane Rumisek, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Lothrop kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.

The win got New Lothrop back to even at 5-5. As for Caro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, New Lothrop will be playing at home against Birch Run at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Caro, they will square off against Sandusky at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
