Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Abes vs. Gig Harbor Tides

The Lincoln Abes will venture away from home to take on the Gig Harbor Tides at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Gig Harbor's (thus far) undefeated season.

Last Wednesday, Lincoln came up short against Mount Tahoma and fell 6-3.

William Ross was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Ross was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Ross wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jose Guzman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Guzman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Emmett Oride-Grove also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Gig Harbor got themselves on the board against Silas on Wednesday, but Silas never followed suit. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 3-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Gig Harbor also got a great performance from Quentin Bockhorn as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

Gig Harbor's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
