Softball Recap: Windsor Gets the Win

Windsor's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the East Catholic Eagles 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since May 17, 2024.

Sydney H made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah G, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Windsor's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for East Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windsor will head out to take on South Windsor at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for East Catholic, they will take on Tolland at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Tolland will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something East Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
