Volleyball Recap: Water Canyon Takes a Loss

Water Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the St. Joseph Jayhawks.

Abigail Barlow paced Water Canyon's offense, picking up three kills. Barlow got some help from Joann Barlow and her four assists. Finally, Amelia Jessop kept Water Canyon's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

St. Joseph can attribute much of their success to Sophie Yates, who had nine digs and four aces. That's the most aces Yates has posted over her last six matches.

Water Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for St. Joseph, they have been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Water Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Gunnison Valley on the 18th. As for St. Joseph, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Valley on the 18th.
