Basketball Recap: Denver Christian's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against DSST: College View on Wednesday, Denver Christian came back down to earth. The matchup between the Thunder and the Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds didn't end well, with the Thunder falling 79-60. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunder of the 61-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Denver Christian lost on Saturday, don't look at Jayden Cain. Despite the final result, he shot 79% from the field on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. The contest was Cain's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke DeBoer, who posted 13 points and eight boards.

Dayton Long was nothing short of spectacular for Windsor Charter Academy: he dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Long has scored at least a third of the Firebirds' points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Schams, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 22 points and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Denver Christian fell to 2-1. As for Windsor Charter Academy, the win was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Denver Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against DSST: Cedar at 7:00 p.m. As for Windsor Charter Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Summit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
