League recap: Eddie breaks off league-leading run for Cenla Christian Academy

Cenla Christian Academy's Dezman Eddie rumbled for the longest rushing play in MAIS A District 3 this season in his game against Union Christian Academy last week. Eddie's team bested the Lions as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 122 in all.

Wilkinson County Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in the league. The Rams vanquished Claiborne Academy 28-8 earlier in the week.

Cenla Christian Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Peyton Gauthier threw for 109 and two touchdowns and Eddie had 48 yards receiving. On the ground La'Montrell Goudeau chipped in 128 yards. Goudeau helped Cenla Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.

Caleb Vallee has thrown for 474 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Kyland Joiner has 12 catches for 266 yards. Goudeau leads the league in rushing with 544 yards.

A big matchup in MAIS A District 3 this week will be when Riverfield Academy takes on the Rebels. As it stands, the Raiders are in second, while Claiborne Academy is in fourth.

Amite and Tallulah Academy played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Amite eventually emerging with a 29-24 victory.
