Preview: Worthing Colts vs. Wheatley Wildcats
Worthing and Wheatley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Worthing Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wheatley Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Worthing put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Kashmere as Worthing made off with a 48-27 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Worthing has posted since December 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, Wheatley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 54.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Washington with points to spare, taking the game 66-47.
Wheatley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamie Solomon, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and six assists. Solomon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Breedlove, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Worthing and bumps their season record up to 10-11. As for Wheatley, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Things could have been worse for Worthing, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-31 loss to Wheatley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
