Baseball Game Preview: Covington Buccs vs. Botkins Trojans

The Covington Buccs will face off against the Botkins Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Covington is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Covington came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of St. Henry by a score of 4-2 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buccs have suffered against the Redskins since May 2, 2015.

Meanwhile, Botkins made easy work of Ansonia two weeks ago and carried off a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

The victory got Botkins back to even at 1-1. As for Covington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Covington's way against Botkins in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Covington made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Covington since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
