Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Riverside's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Riverside unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 17-7 to the Centennial Hawks.

Julie Muniz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Mandy Contreras was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Even though they lost, Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Centennial, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

Coming up, Riverside will square off against Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will face off against Alamogordo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Alamogordo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
