Basketball Game Preview: L.C. Bird Skyhawks vs. Hopewell Blue Devils

The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will face off against the Hopewell Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. L.C. Bird is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

L.C. Bird is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Nansemond River on Saturday. L.C. Bird fell 51-39 to Nansemond River. The match marked the Skyhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite their loss, L.C. Bird saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kylie Kent, who posted nine points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Evans, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Hopewell's undefeated season came to an end after six games last Friday. They fell just short of John Marshall by a score of 70-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (62), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hopewell fell to 6-1. As for L.C. Bird, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went L.C. Bird's way against Hopewell in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, as L.C. Bird made off with a 55-29 win. Does L.C. Bird have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hopewell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
