Basketball Recap: Capital Comes Up Short

Capital lost against South Charleston back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Capital Cougars came up short against the South Charleston Black Eagles, falling 76-54. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Black Eagles are ranked seventh).

Capital has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for South Charleston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capital won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chapmanville Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Charleston, they will take on St. Albans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Albans' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
