Baseball Recap: Kenowa Hills Takes a Loss

Kenowa Hills extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 13-6-1 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coopersville Broncos. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Keegan Garvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kenowa Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chastyn Cole, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Coopersville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On Coopersville's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Drew Duthler gave up only one earned run on five hits.

While Kenowa Hills had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
