Basketball Recap: Montbello Comes Up Short

Montbello played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Regis Groff Fusion, falling 64-21. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-4.

Kian Martin was Montbello's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Christapher Matthews held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Leading Regis Groff to victory were James Murdock and Javelle Taylor. Murdock dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Taylor posted 12 points along with six boards and five assists. Taylor also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Regis Groff is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Javaree Paris, who scored seven points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Montbello and nudges their season record down to 3-17. As for Regis Groff, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Montbello does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Regis Groff, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 84-19 victory against Hinkley on the 14th.
