Basketball Game Preview: North East Carolina Prep Husky vs. Gates County Red Barons

The North East Carolina Prep Husky will face off against the Gates County Red Barons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North East Carolina Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, North East Carolina Prep was beaten by Martin County 53-5. While losing is never fun, the Husky can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Gators are ranked 253rd).

Meanwhile, Gates County won against Martin County on Tuesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Gates County blew past Washington County 66-33. The Red Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Gates County's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points over those games. As for North East Carolina Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-23.

North East Carolina Prep was dealt a bruising 69-8 defeat at the hands of Gates County in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point North East Carolina Prep was down 45-2.
