Baseball Game Preview: Southeast Pirates vs. LaBrae Vikings

For the second straight game, Southeast will face off against LaBrae. The Pirates will take on the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so LaBrae's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

LaBrae hit Southeast with a four-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell 7-3 to the Vikings. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For LaBrae's part, Landon Brunstetter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Brunstetter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Brunstetter wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Magoulick, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Magoulick a new career-high.

LaBrae has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
