FORT MYERS, Fla. — Patrick Johnson of Gateway Charter (Fort Myers, Fla.) won the City of Palms Classic slam dunk contest Wednesday night after earning combined scores of 91 out of 100 on his first two slams and a combined score of 88 out of 100 in the championship round. The 6-foot-8 senior forward edged out L.J. Holman of Great Crossing (Georgetown, Ky.) in the final round.

For his first two dunks of the contest, Johnson threw down a sick 180-windmill slam from the side before throwing down a tomahawk dunk over tournament director Mary Shaak.

For his two dunks in the championship round, Johnson threw down a double-clutch reverse slam before throwing down a between-the-legs slam to seal the victory.

In a surprise turn of events after the dunk contest concluded, last year's dunk contest Jaxon Richardson of Columbus (Miami, Fla.) came out to thrill the crowd with a couple dunk himself.

Richardson jumped over teammates Cameron Boozer, Caleb Gaskins and Cello Jackson for the most exciting dunk of the night. Although the dunk did not count as part of the contest, it filled the gym with excitement as the photographers and videographers stormed the court.
