Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Sterling

Sterling never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Port Arthur Memorial Titans. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Isiah Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Oscar Aguillon looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Sterling let Noah Marron and Joseph Franco run wild. Marron went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Franco went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Marron also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Keyshawn Ross was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The win (which was Sterling's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Port Arthur Memorial, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Sterling will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
