Nooksack Valley hasn't had much luck against Sedro-Woolley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pioneers will face off against the Cubs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Nooksack Valley sitting on eight straight wins and Sedro-Woolley on 13.
Nooksack Valley gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Meridian. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Payton Bartl made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyxis Larson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Dykstra, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Nooksack Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sedro-Woolley made easy work of Squalicum on Saturday and carried off a 27-7 victory. Considering the Cubs have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sedro-Woolley pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.7 runs over those games. As for Nooksack Valley, their record is now 12-3.
Nooksack Valley beat Sedro-Woolley 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Cubs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
