Baseball Game Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Montgomery Aztecs

The Olympian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Montgomery Aztecs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Olympian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mater Dei Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 7th.

Esteban Diaz made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Montgomery never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Hilltop. The victory continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Julian Martinez's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marco Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Montgomery: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Montgomery hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Montgomery now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Olympian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Olympian might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Montgomery in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
