Basketball Recap: Coalfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against Greenback last Friday, Coalfield came back down to earth. The Coalfield Yellow Jackets fell to the Rockwood Tigers 44-40. The Yellow Jackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 61-54.

Leading Rockwood to victory were Laken Jolly and Jayden Davidson. Jolly went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points, while Davidson posted 17 points and five boards. Those 16 points gave Jolly a new career-high.

Coalfield's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Rockwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Coalfield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oneida at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rockwood, they and Sunbright will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Sunbright will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rockwood surely won't give up without a fight.
