Baseball Recap: Denison Victorious

Denison took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Centennial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellow Jackets narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted since March 22, 2025.

Denison gave Caden Vasko the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vasko has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Denison's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Kincannon, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Kincannon has posted since back in February of 2025. Another was Christian Viers, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Denison's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Centennial, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Denison will square off against Krum at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Centennial, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 win against Wylie East on the 21st.
