Baseball Recap: Columbus Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lincoln High last Saturday, Columbus came back down to earth. The Discoverers fell just short of the Lincoln Southeast Knights by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Discoverers of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Columbus got a good showing from Karsten Killham, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Killham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Columbus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Cameron, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lincoln Southeast, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-9.

Columbus didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-3 win against Lincoln High on the 15th. As for Lincoln Southeast, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-4 loss against Lincoln East on the 15th.
