Softball Game Preview: Clackamas Cavaliers vs. Sandy Pioneers

The Clackamas Cavaliers will take on the Sandy Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clackamas hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Clackamas fell victim to Barlow and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Bruins, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Sandy hadn't done well against Central Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pioneers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rams 9-7.

Sandy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Clackamas, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Clackamas suffered a grim 22-3 defeat to Sandy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
