Softball Recap: Ponaganset Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Chariho

Ponaganset faced Chariho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Chieftains came up short against the Chargers, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in April.

Ponaganset saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maia Salvo, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Ponaganset has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Chariho, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
