Basketball Game Preview: South Garner Titans vs. Clayton Comets

South Garner is 2-8 against Clayton since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the South Garner Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Clayton Comets at 7:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, South Garner beat Southeast Raleigh 58-52.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clayton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-56 win over Fuquay - Varina on Monday. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Bengals are ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clayton has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for South Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

South Garner took a serious blow against Clayton in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 91-61. Can South Garner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
