Baseball Game Preview: Alief Taylor Lions vs. Alief Elsik Rams

For the second straight game, Alief Taylor will face off against Alief Elsik. The Lions will square off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alief Taylor's hitters haven't had much luck over their past eight matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Alief Taylor after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Alief Elsik, falling 13-2.

For Alief Elsik's part, Anthony Dominguez and Joseph Benevidez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Dominguez tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Benevidez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Alief Elsik is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-18 otherwise. At bat, Dominguez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Benevidez went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Benevidez a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryan Lea was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Alief Elsik: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-18 otherwise. Christian Holloway was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Alief Elsik's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-19. As for Alief Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
