Recap: Oakley Plainsmen vs. Stanton County Trojans
The Oakley Plainsmen fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Stanton County on Thursday as Oakley made off with a 34-12 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Oakley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Oakley can attribute much of their success to Jorgan Schiltz, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown. Schiltz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Ace Plummer was in the mix too, providing Oakley with two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Stanton County still got an impressive performance from Arihm Gonzalez, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Oakley's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Stanton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakley will face off against Medicine Lodge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Medicine Lodge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Stanton County, they will head out on the road to face off against Conway Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Conway Springs' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
